Generative AI

Generative AI is artificial intelligence that creates new content — such as text, images, audio, or code — rather than only analyzing existing data.
Generative AI produces original output. Given a prompt, it can write copy, generate images, compose music, or draft code, drawing on patterns learned from large training datasets.
This contrasts with traditional AI that classifies or predicts from data without creating anything new. Generative tools have made content creation faster, though the output still needs human judgment for accuracy and quality.
LLM
A large language model is an AI system trained on vast amounts of text to understand and generate human-like language.
Prompt
A prompt is the input or instruction a user gives an AI model to direct what it should produce.
AI Overview
An AI Overview is an AI-generated summary that answers a search query directly at the top of results, often citing source pages.
